The fight for justice and progress continues in Virginia! Below is a spotlight on some of our ongoing campaigns and recent victories, plus a reminder to make sure everyone you know is registered to vote by May 17 so that they can vote in the June 8 Primary!
On May Day, New Virginia Majority in Loudoun and Western Fairfax marched in Sterling to demand housing justice for our working-class immigrant communities. We were joined by our endorsed gubernatorial candidate Jennifer McClellan, who shared her plans for housing justice, immigrant justice, health justice, and more. Check out this Twitter thread for highlights from the event.

New Virginia Majority’s Norfolk chapter is continuing their fight for guaranteed one-to-one affordable housing replacement for the residents who are being displaced from the St. Paul's public housing neighborhood. Journalist Soledad O’Brien spotlighted the St. Paul’s crisis on a recent episode of “Disrupt and Dismantle” - watch the episode here!
VICTORY: Shoutout to our hub organization Tenants and Workers United for achieving a huge victory for #PoliceFreeSchools in Alexandria! On Monday, Alexandria City Council voted to re-invest the majority of the School Resource Officer budget towards mental health care for students.
One last thing: There’s less than five weeks left until the June 8 primary elections, and the voter registration deadline is coming up on May 17. Make sure everyone you know is registered and has a plan to vote - you can go to www.voteva.us for more information.
Onward!
In solidarity,
New Virginia Majority
