Where People in Prison Come From
Have you read the report “Where people in prison come from: The geography of mass incarceration in Virginia?” Kenneth Gilliam Jr., NVM Policy Director, collaborated with the Prison Policy Initiative to release this data. The report is part of a series showing incarceration rates across the U.S.
Black Organizing: A Conversation with Bill Fletcher
On July 20th in Northern Virginia, New Virginia Majority hosted an intimate talk with writer, organizer, and labor leader, Bill Fletcher, to talk about Black organizing and the current moment of political and social crisis.
Support the Virginia Student Power Network
This week, July 25-30, VSPN is participating in the Alliance For Youth Action’s Monthly Donor Competition for the second year! As part of this competition, for every new monthly donor we bring in, we can win up to $10,000 in grants! This is the MOST impactful time to sign up as a monthly donor of VSPN.
All monthly donors who sign up to give $5 or more per month will receive an AMAZING poster created by our very own VSPN member. Will you consider becoming a monthly donor to help us scale up this summer?
New Loudoun Office
It’s official! Our new Loudoun office opened on July 22nd and we had several community members and neighbors celebrate with us. Thanks to our Loudoun organizers for welcoming everyone, including guests from SEIU Virginia 512 and candidates for Delegate: Marty Martinez and Atoosa Reaser. We invite our members and supporters in the area to stop by and say hello!
