New Virginia Majority Members to Hold a Solidarity Vigil for Displaced Residents of Leesburg Mobile Home Park
Leesburg, Va. - New Virginia Majority (NVM) will gather community members on November 22, 2025 at 6 p.m. at Mobile Hope (302 Parker Ct SE Leesburg, Va.) to hold a vigil in solidarity with the 85 families displaced from Leesburg Mobile Home Park.
Families have lived in Loudoun for over a decade without Loudoun County offering affordable housing, and were sent eviction notices earlier this year. We demand more programs and construction of affordable housing from the local government for working families earning less than 40% of the AMI.
Isamar Ortega, lead organizer at NVM, said, “This displacement is not just a personal loss; it's an urgent sign that we need affordable housing now. The trailer park closure is leaving dozens of families homeless in the county they've always called home.”
“We lived in Loudoun for over ten years, working and raising our children here. The closure of the trailer park forced us to leave the county that has always been our home. We aren't asking for privileges, just decent and affordable housing so we can continue to be part of our community,” said Fredy Benitez, a tenant and NVM member.
“When the park closed, we couldn't find any housing options we could afford in Loudoun. We feel displaced and forgotten, even though we are residents and taxpayers. We want the local government to understand that working families also deserve stability and a safe place to live,” said Micedalia Calles, another tenant and NVM member.
