NVM Loudoun Chapter Celebrates Working Class Wins for International Workers' Day

Sterling, Va. - New Virginia Majority (NVM) is celebrating International Workers' Day with local parents to celebrate education wins for working class communities on May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Center at Cascades (21060 Whitfield Pl, Sterling, Va).

Among the victories achieved by Loudoun County’s working class is the implementation of free after-school programs for the community. The event will include community members and members of the Immigrant Solidarity Committee to highlight this significant advancement as part of our advocacy work, with remarks by affected parents and allies.

“These after-school programs provide tremendous support for the education and development of my son, who attends Sully Elementary School in Loudoun County. I am able to work and support my family, knowing that my son is safe at school,” said Reina Amador, an NVM member.

NMV organizer Kellin Orellana stated, “Our community celebrates the victory of after-school programs in Loudoun County, as they directly benefit the development and learning of our students. We will continue fighting to expand these programs and meet the needs of even more working-class families.”
