NVM Announces House of Delegates Endorsement Slate for 2025 Elections

New Virginia Majority (NVM) is pleased to announce endorsements for the 2025 House District Races. NVM members voted to endorse several house district candidates. Our endorsements are helmed by a member-led Leadership Council, who conducted interviews to determine which candidates were aligned with our legislative priorities.

May Nivar in House District 57, Elizabeth Guzman in House District 22, Lindsey Dougherty in House District 75, Kimberly Pope Adams in House District 82, Nadarius Clark in House District 84, Mike Feggans in House District 97, Karen Carnegie in House District 89, Virgil Thornton Sr. in House District 86, Phil Hernandez in House District 94, Stacey Carroll in House District 64, Leslie Mehta in House District 73, and Mark Downey in House District 69 all received endorsements.

“The role of our delegates is more important now than ever, as they will return to session next January to begin the hard work of protecting Virginians from attacks on our healthcare, our housing systems, our education systems and much more being leveraged at the federal level. We’re excited to roll up our sleeves and get to work letting Virginia’s voters know about these great candidates from now until November," said Sakina Bennett, NVM political director.

“I am proud to have the endorsement of New Virginia Majority. Their tireless work building power in working-class communities of color, developing civic leadership, and advancing racial, economic, and environmental justice is exactly the kind of movement we need in Virginia. I look forward to working alongside New Virginia Majority to ensure every voice in the 22nd District is heard and represented,” said Elizabeth Guzman, House District 22 candidate.

“I am proud to stand with NVM in this fight for the working class people. Together, we will flip this crucial battleground seat and ensure Virginians receive affordable housing, healthcare, and an economy that works for all of us," said Leslie Mehta, House District 73 candidate.

Virgil Thornton Sr., House District 86 candidate said, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of New Virginia Majority. Their tireless work to advance justice, equity, and opportunity across our commonwealth inspires me, and I look forward to standing with them to build a Virginia where every voice is heard and every community can thrive.”

Mark Downey, House District 69 candidate said, “I am honored to earn the endorsement of New Virginia Majority, an organization that champions working families and communities too often left behind. As Delegate, I will build upon New Virginia Majority's tireless work to build a more just commonwealth and fight for equity, justice, and opportunity in the General Assembly.”

Previous NVM endorsements are Abigail Spanberger for Governor, Ghazala Hashmi for Lt. Governor, Jay Jones for Attorney General, May Nivar for House District 57, Ramin Fatehi for Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney, and Shannon Jones for Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney.

We look forward to working with our allies to elect candidates that are committed to fighting for working class communities of color and creating a Virginia that works for all of us.
