New Virginia Majority Announces Richmond Slate of Endorsements
New Virginia Majority (NVM) announced endorsements for the 2024 Richmond mayoral and city council races. Endorsements include Harrison Roday for Mayor, Nicole Jones for City Council District 9, Kenya Gibson for City Council District 3, and Willie Hilliard for City Council District 6.
"Local elections truly shape the future of the cities and localities we live in and have great potential to impact our day-to-day lives. We at New Virginia Majority are ready to help Richmond's voters make their voices heard," said Sakina Bennett, NVM political director.
During this election cycle, NVM plans on knocking on doors to mobilize and educate Black, Latinx and AAPI voters and to ensure their voices and votes are counted.
"I am thrilled and honored to receive the endorsement for my candidacy from New Virginia Majority. Their work in Housing Justice is to be commended, and I can't wait to get to work with them on Building A Better Richmond Together," said Hillard.
"I loved that when I spoke with [Harrison Roday] about incentivizing community gardens, his face lit up and he has experience with community gardens with his previous non-profit work,” said Jana Hobbs, NVM Richmond chapter member.
We look forward to working to get our endorsed candidates elected, and will work with other organizations to ensure a more just Virginia for all of us.
