Thomas Assefa is the chief of staff at New Virginia Majority and oversees NVM’s internal organization and leadership development work toward building a stronger and more aligned organization. He has been involved in the racial and social justice movement for close to 20 years, mostly as a community organizer.
Most recently, Thomas was NVM’s organizing director and has worked at the intersections of environmental, economic, and racial justice campaigns throughout the social justice movement. He is driven by his commitment to the liberation and dignity of all oppressed people.
