We applaud Governor McAuliffe's Executive Directive 11 "Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions from Electric Power Facilities And Growing Virginia's Clean Energy Economy. We call on Virginia's Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to use its authority to create a rule that meets the urgency of our climate crisis and drastically reduces carbon emissions from power plants all over Virginia, ensures that Virginians benefit from profits from carbon regulatinons, address disproportional affects of pollution and climate change on communities of color and working class communities and invest in truly clean energy.
