New Virginia Majority and Norfolk community members escort students home from bus stops in the Calvert Square neighborhood on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022. The NVM recently began the escort initiative in response to gun violence occurring around the times students get off the bus. They also hand out bags of snacks with pieces of paper attached that explain to parents and guardians the mission of the group and their presence in the neighborhood.
