New Virginia Majority Endorses Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President

Today, New Virginia Majority announced its endorsement of Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President.

This election is a choice between two different visions for our country. The choice is between one that will take away our freedoms, and the other is a vision where we have a say over the personal decisions that impact our lives. The stakes couldn’t be any clearer.

This November, we have an opportunity to elect someone who shares our values and stands with many of our policy priorities - who will fight for Virginians by lowering costs for working families, ensuring our communities are safe and that women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies. Vice President Harris has played a decisive role in some of the most progressive victories of the Biden administration, such as casting the tie-breaking vote to pass the landmark Inflation Reduction Act.

However, Harris cannot make sweeping changes alone. We must also elect candidates on the local and state level who will side with working-class Virginians to create a state where everyone has access to healthcare, a quality education, affordable childcare, and safe housing. We have the opportunity to elect Kamala Harris and build a movement that will keep us moving forward.

For more than a decade, New Virginia Majority has worked to expand the electorate in Virginia to reflect our rich diversity by registering nearly 300,000 new voters, and spearheading efforts to modernize and automate voter registration, which has enabled millions to be registered annually. NVM has helped to make substantive changes in Virginia, from restoring civil rights to over 200,000 formerly incarcerated people, expanding Medicaid for Virginians, and expanding voting rights.

As a result, Black and brown voters have turned out in record numbers to cast ballots for policies that will help to improve the quality of their lives and move Virginia forward to a place where everyone is valued, respected, and has their voices heard.
