How to Vote

VOTER REGISTRATION: If you're already registered to vote, double-check to make sure that all your information is accurate. If you're not already registered, you can register online until October 13.

PHOTO ID: As of July 1 2020, You DO NOT need a photo ID to vote in Virginia. You will need to show one form of identification, including any government document that shows your name and address, or a bank statement, utility bill, or paycheck. Click here for a full list of acceptable IDs. 

You can still vote if you get to your polling place without acceptable ID. You can sign an ID statement affirming your identity and you will be able to vote with a regular ballot.

When/Where to vote: 

ELECTION DAY is Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Polling places are open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. Click here to look up your polling place. Anyone in line at 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

ABSENTEE VOTING: As of July 1 2020, any Virginia voter may vote absentee in-person or by mail without an excuse. 

IN-PERSON EARLY VOTING: You can vote early at your local registrar’s office or at a satellite voting location beginning 45 days before Election Day and ending the Saturday before Election Day.

VOTE BY MAIL: You can request your ballot be mailed to you. Absentee ballots are mailed out 45 days before the election. The deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is 5pm on October 23. Request your absentee ballot here.
