New Virginia Majority was founded on the premise that more people, people of all colors and from all backgrounds, must have a voice in the decisions that impact our lives. We’ve knocked on over 1 million doors, engaging immigrants, African Americans, women, low-income working people and youth to encourage civic leadership and to build public support for some of the most pressing issues facing our communities today.

This year we are honored to present the inaugural Oliver W. Hill Freedom Award to Governor Terry McAuliffe for his leadership in restoring the civil rights of those who have been convicted of felonies. In doing so, Governor McAuliffe has profoundly impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of Virginians and has advanced civil rights for the Commonwealth and for the nation. |
